Our supporting associations
STOP the HATE was developed by velspol and is run jointly by two velspol state associations: velspol Schleswig-Holstein and velspol Nordwest.
What is velspol?
velspol is the nationwide network for LGBTIQ* employees in the police, justice system, customs and public order authorities. The name dates back to its founding year, 1994: “Verein lesbischer und schwuler Polizeibediensteter” (Association of Lesbian and Gay Police Employees). Shortly after Section 175 of the German Criminal Code (StGB) was abolished, lesbian and gay police employees from all over Germany met for the first time. In 2002, the state associations joined to form the federal association VelsPol Deutschland.
Today, velspol is open to all LGBTIQ* employees of the security authorities. The aim is to break down prejudice against queer people and to take a firm stand against hate crime – in members’ working lives and beyond. Out of this commitment, velspol Schleswig-Holstein developed the STOP the HATE campaign.

The LGBTIQ* network for staff in the police, justice system, customs and public order authorities in Schleswig-Holstein. The non-profit association developed STOP the HATE and in 2018 helped initiate the State Police’s LGBTIQ* contact point.
Hamburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony
velspol Nordwest e.V.
The partner network for LGBTIQ* employees in the police, justice system, customs and public order authorities in Hamburg, Bremen and Lower Saxony. Together with velspol Schleswig-Holstein, the association runs STOP the HATE in these three federal states.
