Each time a page is accessed, the server automatically stores data transmitted by your browser: IP address, date and time, the page accessed, browser type and operating system, and the page you came from. We need this data to operate the website securely and reliably and to detect attacks. We do not attribute this data to specific individuals.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log files are automatically deleted after 30 days.

The website runs on WordPress and is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin. The servers are located in Germany. STRATO processes the data listed above only on our behalf and according to our instructions. We have a data processing agreement with STRATO (Art. 28 GDPR). Cookies are small text files that your browser stores. We use technically necessary cookies so that the website works and your privacy choices are saved. The legal basis is Section 25(2) of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We only use all other cookies and services if you consent (Section 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We manage your consent with the WordPress plugin “Real Cookie Banner” (devowl.io GmbH). The plugin runs on our own server. It stores your choice in a cookie and logs it so that we can prove your consent (Art. 7(1) GDPR). The fonts on this website are embedded directly in our stylesheet and are loaded from our server. No connection is made to Google Fonts or any other font service.

Some forms, for example “Suggest a counselling service”, do not store anything on our website. Clicking opens your own email program with a prepared message. We only receive this email once you send it yourself. What is stated under “When you write to us” then applies.

If you contact us by email or phone, we process your details in order to respond to your enquiry. These include, for example, your name, your email address or phone number and the content of your message. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry concerns a membership, a donation or a collaboration, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We delete your data as soon as your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention periods require otherwise. We do not pass on your details without your consent, not even to the police.

If you tell us about an attack or discrimination, you may also write about your sexual orientation, your gender identity or your health. Such information enjoys special protection (Art. 9 GDPR). We only process it because and to the extent that you share it with us voluntarily, and only to help you (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time.

Our tip: only tell us what is necessary for your enquiry. You do not have to give your full name.

In Schleswig-Holstein you can also message us on WhatsApp. On our website, WhatsApp is only included as a link. You are only taken to WhatsApp when you tap it. If you write to us there, WhatsApp Ireland Limited (Meta) also processes data, for example your phone number and when you write to us. The content is end-to-end encrypted. If you do not want to use WhatsApp, you can just as easily reach us by email or phone.

Our profiles on Instagram and TikTok are included only as simple links. No data is transferred to these networks when you visit our website. You only leave our website when you click a link. The privacy policies of Meta (Instagram) or TikTok then apply.

You can donate by bank transfer or via PayPal. With a bank transfer, we receive the details your bank sends, i.e. name, IBAN, amount and payment reference. The PayPal button is a simple link. We keep donation data and details for donation receipts for as long as tax and commercial law require (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with Section 147 of the German Fiscal Code (AO), usually ten years).

If you would like to become a member of velspol, we process the details from your membership application in order to manage your membership (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Providing these details is voluntary, but membership is not possible without them. Further details can be found in the membership documents of the respective association.

Our pages link to many counselling services, the police and authorities. These links open the respective website. Nothing is transferred to them when you visit our website. The linked websites are subject to their own privacy policies.

You have the right at any time
